Cockatiel Budgie or Parrot Cooked Bird Food Recipe

Thank you from Susan in Seattle
(Sorry about the game Sunday)

The is a great diet for keeping birds healthy and extending their life span.

Grind up equal amounts of

Raw broccoli
Carrots
Dark Greens - Spinach - Collard green (chards, kale)  - etc

Grind veggies in a chopper

Then put this mixture  in a tight sealed container and refrigerate immediately or until you use.  Use only for the day.

To make it really  appetizing, add soaked seeds:  recipe:  take wheat, barly ,rye, millet, kamut, oat, rice or spelt groats or any  combination thereof.

Mix raw and put a small amount or however much you need into a container and fill the container with filtered water. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 12 hours, this will give the groats 50% more nutritional value.

In the  meantime take 10 drops of gse (grapeseed extract) and add to a full bottle of water in a large spray planter. This also must be refrigerated at all times and is very economical.

Then You  take the ground vegetable mixture and put it on a plate or cup and add a little bit of the groats and mix with the ground veggie mixture.  This should be out no longer than 3-4 hours

3 hours if the birds don't eat the groats which they will. To get them used to this very nutritious mix, you may add some dry seed or any dry food they are used to

Then you can eliminate it  once they are used to it.  Of course the dry food can and I do use it for other meals.

It can take a while for the birds to respond - and  temporarily  adding little dry seed they are used to will be a catalyst!!

This same recipe can be used for birds of all sizes, just adjust the size of the pieces!

Please send anyone my way who has more questions about my recipe,,and any other ideas for holistic environmental care and more recipes

I am also on facebook

So many people think it is ok to cage budgies all day and I would like to help give alternative ideas to this, as it is, as you know,,very dangerous and injurious to the birds health

Enjoy
