Humane Society Selling Large Used Parrot Cage

Hi,

I work with the South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights, IL.  Our resale shop received this cage as a donation.  We are wanting to sell it but are not sure how much to ask.  What we plan to do is ask for a donation of a certain price that way whoever is interested can take it off on there taxes and the money donated will go to help the homeless cats and dogs.

Would you be able to give me any information about this cage such as the maker, approximate age of cage, what it would have cost new, what new cages that size are going for and any ideas of where we can advertise besides ebay and Craigslist?  We do have the bottom rack it just isn't in the cage now.  Also, I do not have the measurements, sorry!  If you need them let me know and I can get them to you.  If you have any other questions and would like to talk with me I will give you my cell phone number.  It is 708-825-5484.  I really appreciate any help that you can give me.  This cage is taking up a lot of space and I am sure someone can use it and the animals sure can use the donation.

Thank-you!

Sincerely,

Annette

Dear Annette

Values for used cages are not that high. Much of the cost of a new cage is the shipping charges, for one that large could have been $200 just to ship it via truck across the country to the customer. If it is missing parts, dishes, trays, it will even be valued lower. It will probably fetch $200-$300 used. We do not handle used cages at all.

We have two bird rescues that MIGHT be interested in purchasing it.
