Grace Ligon with Sunny, my Central American Scarlet Macaw

Hello again, to all of my readers here at WindyCityParrot.com. My job here has been to write informative pieces to help enrich the lives of birds and their owners. Today, I am going to ask you to help enrich the life of a fellow bird lover. I recently met Grace and her mom, Kathy, at the KeyLime Cove Water park and Resort in Gurnee, IL. Grace recently turned 12 and has Cerebral Palsy. Grace visited with my birds and I everyday of her visit. Grace loved my big macaws and really liked having my sun conure, Shelby on her shoulder.

Grace loves animals and has a wonderful service dog named Giselle. Giselle helps her and Kathy with many things including picking up dropped items. Grace is very interested in how animals get trained to do this kind of work. Grace is very interested in having a bird as a pet and asked mom if she could get a bird for Christmas.

We would like you to sign the petition to help nominate Grace and Kathy for ABC TV’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Grace is very close to collecting 10,000 signatures and needs our help. So I am asking all of my friends in the bird and animal community to help me help Grace. With an extra five minutes of your time, we can help her get over 10,000 signatures.

I spend thousands of hours reaching out to kids and families, teaching them about our birds and conservation. Please help me make a difference in this wonderful family’s life.
