Zinc in metal washers for bird cages - question

hi, I was looking at the windy city page and saw the replacement metal washers... I've always wondered about the zinc content in those... I've always heard horrible things about zinc (solid/metal form) ... do you know anything about health risks or had any experience with health probs. ? i use some of those washers for some things and haven't had prblems, but I've read so so much about slow painful agonizing deaths from zinc poison.... just wondering if you know anything about zinc poisoning?? thanks <><

A lot of vets diagnose "zinc poisoning" when they have no other answers. Yes the washers have zinc. Your bird would have to climb  on the outside of the cage and chew the washer endlessly and even then the likely hood of illness is slim.

There is far more zinc in the no name cages sold on eBay and this is what people need to be concerned with.

We tried stainless steel washers but they were 4 times more expensive and nobody bought them

We've been selling these same washers since 1993 without issue. We do recommend you wash with detergent and dry before introducing in the cage
