Wild Quaker Parrot Survival in Chicago
Hello Mitch,
What little bit I know of parrots involves my quaker. She came to live with us literally out of the blue. Didn't know a thing about birds, but had to learn if she was going to stay.
Glad to meet you.
Ann
Quakers are great little birds - FYI there are wild colonies here in Chicago

Mitch I know about the wild colonies. Apparently that is why Quakers are illegal in some states. Once they get free they are able to adapt and their colonies have been known to cause damage in places.
I worry when it gets cool in the house, but I know she is probably just fine. If they can survive in Chicago she can surely survive in 50 degrees inside.
Thanks for the link. If I have more bird questions I know who I will come to.
Ann
Hi Ann
Unfortunately that's not the case - it's not necessarily that the birds are hardier which is somewhat true but their secret to cold weather survival is colonized nesting.
A solo quaker doesn't stand a chance.
