Problem with Thermo Perch
|
Hello! I have a senior citizen friend who purchased a Thermo Perch for her old rescue african grey. He came to her with distorted feet from obvious breaks, etc. This past year, his arthritis and pain are worsening.
She purchased the Thermo Perch from a local bird store in St. Louis (Varietee's) ...however, Rascal (the grey) cannot grip the perch with his crippled feet ... it is too slippery.
Is there a contact number/email for the manufacturer that we can call about how to safely modify the surface so Rascal can use the heated perch? They are in St. Louis and it is cold, damp, cold and damp there ... did I mention it is cold and damp right now?
My friend asked the employee at Varietee's to help her with this issue and has not had any help. I have purchased many things from you over the years at the bird fairs/bird marts, and hope you can give us a contact number to help poor old Rascal (who, by the way, has most recently now become blind as well as arthritic.)
PS: My friend is overwhelmed with "life" right now as her husband is under Hospice care ... and I offered to help search out the options to safely make this perch usable for poor old Rascal. She has improved Rascal's life so much since she got him, but it appears his poor battered body is suffering right now. Thank you in advance for all of your help.
Thank you,
Linda
Dear Linda
The manufacturer is not likely to recreate their perch to suit your birds needs. But here is their # 719–591–6950.
But I recomend trying to wrap it with this item to create a not slippery surface.
It is used on plastic perches by bird owners a lot. It is an inexpensive fix to try.
You also may want to consider a shelf perch for the bird to take a load off its feet |
