We had made plans with Cassandra and Tom a week earlier, before the passing of Sunshine to stop by and shoot the breeze. Cassandra is the quissentential bird person. She's currently companion to Huey a thirty something Catalina macaw, Sid Viceous, a Quaker, I forget the names of her Princess of Wales and her Cockatoo but I know Tiki her Sun Conure.

All of her birds are rescues and all had suffered some sort of injury and no one wanted them. Tiki is no exception suffering from 2 broken wings brought on by mistakenly wandering into the cage of a Macaw years ago. She can't fly but you'd never know she was handicapped.

Some time ago Cassandra lost a bird and Pat Carrol, the owner of and Feathers (a wonderful bird store here in Chicago, now closed since Pat has retired) brought a Cockatiel over hoping it would help soften the loss of Cassandra's bird.

As a true friend, Cassandra paid the favor forward last night bringing Tiki over as additional dinner guest. We had a lot of fun with Tiki. The only problem was removing her from the inside of Tom's shirt sleeve because they stayed past her birdie bedtime.
