birds-125-announce@meetup.com needs help in re-homing birds

Hi everyone,

We know not every member visits the site regularly so I decided to put out a plea to the group.

Chris and I need your help! We have too many birds needing homes and have to turn away people needing our assistance now. We don't want to turn anyone away, which is why we took in 13 Tiels and 10 Parakeets, knowing they are not everyone's choice in birds, but the point of our adoption assistance is every second hand bird is worth saving and to insure it has the life of being a bird and not the life of being a breeder bird or caged up in an empty room and forgotten about.

Some of these Tiels and Keets are not "tame pets" but they deserve a life of proper care, nutrition and love. Some can be worked with. This shouldn't deem them unworthy pets due to being victims of circumstances. Some of these birds are happy being birds. Take a look at the two Keets with dysplasia. They were born with birth defects. They were checked out by Mohan and found to be ok. They can't perch as normal birds do but they fly very well, feed themselves and have sweet sounds and happy being birds. Bottom Feeder Bob, the partially blind Cockatiel is the same. He sings beautiful songs daily, climbs only when necessary but mainly stays on a very low perch in his cage and can find his seed and water bowls and will wolf whistle often on cue.

These guys and many others need homes. We've so many to try and spend time with daily that we've no time for our own birds, family, friends or to even keep up with normal every day things. Please open up your hearts and think about giving one of these little birds a second chance with you or someone you may know. Check your local Senior Homes. A number of these smaller birds we are willing to donate to established and professionally maintained avairies in places such as Senior Homes. We can always use fosters so we don't have to turn any more birds away. Fill out a Foster App and send it to me if you want to foster.

Food, toy, cage donations are always needed. You can make cash/credit donations to Dr. Mohan's office under our group name which helps covers the out of pocket vet costs Chris and I incur. There are many things people can do to help but we would really like to see these guys go to homes.

Please view their photo's in the photo album Adoptable Fids and let us know if you can help us out.

Thanks for your support and efforts with this group!

read your comments. Very noble deeds and intentions and we see your predicament. It is possible Prevue could assist you with some discontinued cages to offer with the birds for adoption if that would help in finding them homes. Please let us know.

I will pass this on to CatNap from the Heart shelter in La Grange Park. Have you tried petfinder?

I'm happy to know a rescue exists like this. We have a Yorkie dog that was from the rescue, but now I know of you. I have a Timney African that I bought and one that was given to me as a baby. It was due to die from (breeder thought it was a broken neck) but was wry neck. With a dixie cup brace, it is alive and well!!!

I always knew that prevue was a great company, and your offer of cages for this laudatory cause proves that Prevue's CEO is as wonderful as his cages! I have 3 of the #126 (Macaw) cages and one #125 for my rescued parrots (two Amazons, one Congo grey and one Timneh grey). Thank you for being such a super company - you and your cages are the best!!!

Hello, I'm interested in finding out how to donate to help these birds, but it is unclear to me who is asking for help with re-homing and donations for these tiels and keets.
