Male Moustache Parakeet may be afraid of new cage

Hi Catherine,

Thanks so much for responding so quickly! I don't know if you own a bird (or if a bird owns you), but they are funny little creatures. I have a male moustache parakeet, and one time I tried to replace his yellow concrete perch with a pink one.

I guess his male ego was offended, because he screamed and would not go back in his cage until I took out the sissy pink girlieperch. I had to special order a yellow one! I can only imagine what he would do if I tried to replace his white cage with a black one. Lord almighty.....

Dear Peggy

Birds are by nature suspicious of new things. This is for their safety in the wild. I find when I change one thing in my birds cage, I will change 2-3 things at once.

In the early part of the day only, so they are not frightened at night) Then stuff him in it and shut the door. Within a few hours or overnight, he has accepted anything I have given him. We hope to serve your needs.
